Freedom Academy Co-op operates within a commonly used space at First Baptist Church in Cocoa Village. Due to this we are not allergen-free facility.
Children eat snacks and lunch at common tables, may participate in monthly birthday celebrations or seasonal activities involving food, and come into contact with common allergens during daily activities. Therefore, foods may come into contact or be prepared on surfaces exposed to common allergens, including: wheat, dairy, eggs, peanuts, and tree nuts.
We are unable to accommodate any severe allergies or dietary restrictions to the following foods: wheat, gluten, dairy, eggs, peanuts and tree nuts.
Any minor allergies or dietary restrictions may be able to be accommodated by coordinating with families to provide alternative options. It is important that any allergies or dietary restrictions be clearly stated on your child’s registration form.
-
Freedom Academy follows the recommendations of Brevard County Public Schools for severe weather closures. We will reopen after approval from First Baptist Church Cocoa that the building and grounds are safe. Closures for severe weather will not be made up unless more than 4 days are missed.
-
If your child has a headache, stomach ache, has thrown up, has a sore throat, diarrhea, rash, or fever they may not attend Freedom Academy until they are symptom-free for 24 hours without medications, natural medicines, or interventions.
If a child becomes ill while at Freedom Academy, the parent or emergency contact will be notified immediately to pick the child up. The student will need to be symptom-free, without medication, natural medicines, or interventions for 24 hours before returning.
-
At Freedom Academy, we understand the unique needs of homeschooling families and therefore do not adhere to traditional public or private school attendance requirements. This allows families the freedom to travel, participate in educational opportunities outside of Freedom Academy, attend sporting events, and more. It's important to note that your child's tuition remains consistent regardless of their attendance. Your child's tuition secures their place in our program, ensuring they have access to our resources and support whenever they need it.
-
At the end of each month, we designate a day to celebrate children who had birthdays during the month. Through our communication app parents collaborate to provide a special lunch or treat.
Each year we look forward to celebrating Christmas during our Christmas Party & Sock exchange. Students draw names and shop for a special pair of socks for their friend. It’s always fun to see what they’ve chosen.
On Valentine’s Day students exchange Valentines with friends. Kindergarten-second grade exchange with each other and 3rd-6th have a shared exchange. It’s a fun way to recognize friendships and build community.
-
The guideline for dressing and grooming is: modesty.
- No clothing that is revealing, see-through, or skin tight on the top, middle, or bottom.
- Tops should be long enough to cover leggings adequately.
- Girls should wear playground shorts under their skirts and dresses.
- Shoes should be comfortable and allow students to easily play without falling off or becoming tripping hazards. Crocs, flip flops, and high heels are not permitted.
- Clothing with immoral, illegal, or inappropriate designs will not be permitted.
- Masks or clothing that covers student’s faces is not permitted.
-
At Freedom Academy, we firmly believe that parents are best positioned to make medical decisions for their children, including whether or not to vaccinate. We respect and honor each family's choice in this matter, recognizing that our community includes families who opt for both vaccination and non-vaccination. Our commitment is to support and respect every family's decision.
Religious Beliefs & Holidays
Religious Beliefs & Holidays Freedom Academy’s foundation is built on a Christian worldview. Our faith is evident through the curriculum we recommend, daily devotionals, and our belief that God created the children in our care.
As part of our program we recognize and celebrate Christian holidays such as Christmas and Easter. We focus on Jesus’ life and resurrection, as well as the representations each holiday brings: thanksgiving, love, joy, peace, and gratitude.
We do not require that families attending Freedom Academy to be practicing Christians or share our beliefs; however we do require an acknowledgment of these beliefs, and an agreement to respect these beliefs and our freedom to practice them within the Freedom Academy program.
Additionally, we believe that America was founded on Christian principles and beliefs, and it is crucial for children to learn about the founding of our country, instilling in them a love for their country and a sense of patriotism.
